For long times the recorder (Blockflöte) was considered the somewhat retarded member of the musical instruments family. In Renaissance and Baroque however, it was one of the foremost and popular melody instruments of all.
On these 2 CD's Pieter-Jan Belder, proves the artistic value of the instrument, and the wonderful repertoire written for it. He starts with solo works from the collection "Des Fluyten Lusthof" by Dutch composer Jacob van Eijck, and continues his journey through Italian composers De Rore, Frescobaldi, Castello and Cimo to the great Baroque masters Corelli, Telemann, Handel and Bach. His fellow-travellers are Menno van Delft, harpsichord and Rainer Zipperling, cello/viola da gamba.
